Candy Cans To Pass Out In The Classroom

Mummy Cans for the Class

Oh my goodness, I was so excited when my friend over at Share a Random Moment sent this idea to me from 'the Pinterest'.  Here is where original idea came from, I changed it a little, but just to fit the things I had in the house.  You know, anything to avoid going to the store when a crafting moment hits!  There is no time for that when the mood strikes...

And they are so easy to make!  I am going to fill them with candy and send them out the door when the kids have their halloween party at school.

All you are going to need is:

a few empty cans
some tulle
google eyes
a glue gun

super easy, right!

First glue on your google eyes...

Wrap the tulle around the can and tuck in the ends...

And draw a mouth!

I made about 30 of these puppies and it seriously only took me about an hour.  What a simple cute gift idea for the kidd-os!  I really think they are going to love them!  I am pretty excited to hand them out this halloween.

Now stay tuned because I am going to be filling them with lots of fun stuff.  I'll be posting soon, I promise!

Happy October everyone...

DIY Magnetic Spice Rack

My DIY magnetic spice rack...

I am sooooo excited about this project.  I was getting tired of having all of my spices  tucked into my corner cupboard or into my tiny spice shelf.  And having them on the counter top was really not gong to work for me so this was my only option.

So here it is.  The best solution I could find.  The only thing is there was no way I was going to pay what they wanted for a pre-made one.  Even some of the containers to make one myself on amazon were slightly rediculous.

So I decided I could make one myself.  Why not, right?

So I suppose we should just get started, right?!?!

All you are going to need is:

an old metal cookie sheet (or a new one, whatever you like)
some small 4 oz canning jars
some rare earth magnets (the ones i used are pretty small, to do it over again I would have purchsed bigger ones.  These ones said they could hold up to 2lbs each but I still ended up needing 4 per jar.  I think if I would have purchased bigger ones I could have gotten away with only 2 per jar.  Just a side note)

Now take your favorite glue and start gluing magnets to lids...

fill your jars with spices of your liking.  (I went with the ones I use the most)...

label what it is on the bottom...

And done, super great, right?

Oooohhhh, I can not even begin to tell you how fabulous it has been to have all the spices I use the most right there next to the stove.  No digging, no pulling everything out to find what I need, no cursing at the set up of my cupboards, (oh, you don't do that, well any way).

As soon as you do this you are just going to love it.  I need to secure it a little better to the wall but that will come later.  As for now, it is one of the best things I have done for organizaion so far in my kitchen.

Summer Fun...

Seriously, has it been a crazy summer for you?  I don't know where the time has gone but I feel like we have been busy every single day.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of postings but seriously, I don't know where this summer has gone.

But, now it's fall.  I am so excited for fall.  It's baking season!  Woot woot!!!!!!!!!  I spent the entire day today baking bread, bagels, and cheese crackers.  (I'll share those with you in a couple days.  They are my favorite recipes.)

But here are a few pics from this summer.

Here we are playing just dance in the front yard...

played on a boat quite a bit...

More boat time with aunt Annie...

fun at the county fair...

drinks on the beech...

just plain old fun in the sun...

boat time, again...

and seashell hunting!

It was such a fabulous summer.  We had so much fun playing on the beach and in the water.  We spent a lot of time with our cousins and couldn't get a enough.  Hope your summer was just as great!  I promise, I'll be posting more soon!
