Chocolate Candy Cane Marshmallow Hot Chocolate Dunkers
Kind of a long name, I may have to come up with something shorter, but for the time being it will have to do, I suppose. So I was making these for the kids bake sale at school and *thought* they would be so cute. I wanted to make them with my homemade marshmallows. Key word there - thought!
I speared the marshmallows with the mini candy canes,
I dipped them in chocolate,
And put them in lite plastic baggies. And set the aside for the bake sale.
Thank God I did them a week early because sun I went to check on them later this is what I found...
A sticky gooey mess, apparently homemade marshmallows have a bit more moisture than store bought ones. LAME!
I was pretty disappointed but keep your chin up, I think I saved them. I sprinkled them with powdered sugar, trying to soak up that extra moisture. Since the candy canes seemed to have melted in the marshmallows and left a bit of red on them. I put them back in baggies and labeled them as peppermint marshmallows. We will see how they turn out. I hope they will be good.
So, I really love this idea but it just didn't work with MY marshmallows. To do it over again I would use store bought ones for this project. But in the end I think it will work out ok anyway!
