Under the Sea Birthday Party and a Sand Castile Cake

Under the Sea Party and a Sand Castile Cake

So, I know it has been a couple months since Soph's birthday but I am finally getting to posting about her party.  So, without further ado...

This year she picked an under the sea theme. I was so excited to plan this party, and I had so, so, soooo much fun putting it together!

Cake, blue 'Sea-Water' Lemonade, Ocean jello with fish, strawberries and watermelon (just becasue they are her favorite), and chocolate dipped pretzels.

Here is the cake I made!  I'll give directions shortly...

Isn't it soooooo cute,     I LOVED how it turned out!

Ok, I just made a few random shapes (I made an 8x8 square, and a few half circles.)

After they were cooled I frosted them and sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs.  (RIGHT, graham cracker crumbs..  I thought it was genius!)

And finally, for the 'bubbles' I used marshmallows.  I rolled them in my wet hands and then in sprinkles.  WHAT?!?  Seriously, I loved this cake.

Here's a close up of the jello,

and pretzels.
And how can you go wrong with chocolate dipped pretzels.  Sweet and salty, right?!?  Amazing!

And, as always, we have frosting and plain cupcakes so the kids can decorate their own.  It is always a popular activity.

And you have to have all the fixin's...

For decorations, I stuck with blue and white tulle...

balloons, streamers, bunting...

And a little sign out front for the guests.

I seriously loved this party.  It was so much fun.

Do you have a favorite party you have planned?

We Lost Our First Tooth

Our First Lost Tooth!!!

It finally happened, poor Charly wanted it so badly all throughout kindergarten but it just didn't happen. Finally on the first day of summer vacation it just falls out!  And now, of course, there is a random tooth floating around my house that no one can find. I asked her if she thought she swallowed it and she answered, 'um, no, I don't feel it in my belly.'  Well ok, I guess that's good enough for me then.

So we had to write the tooth fairy a note saying that we lost the tooth but then we really lost it.

(Her note says dear tooth fairy, I was wondering what you do? Hen on the next page, I was wondering what you do with my one lost tooth?' )

Then she had to run and put it under her pillow immediately!

And of course when she decided to sleep on the couch the it move everywhere her pillow went the rest of the day.

Pretty stnkin' cute I thought. I was so excited for her this evening that after dinner we decided to celebrate and ride our bikes to Dairy Queen for treats.

I wrote a little note for her from the tooth fairy and set aside a stack if quarters for her. I think she is going to love it.

Of course I had to put glitter on it, what fairy writes a note and doesn't have glitter, right?

So I have her $2 worth of quarters, does that sound about right?  I am not really sure what the right amount would be. I heard a couple of kids in her class saying the tooth fairy led them $5 but that seemed like a lot to me. Maybe for their last tooth to go?  I don't really know. I guess I'll find out I the morning what she says.

What do you guys think?

Anyway, it was a very exciting first day if summer and we can wait to see what the rest has to bring!

Happy summer vacation everyone!

20 Minute Way To Gift Graduation Money

Easy DIY Graduation Gift/ A Fun Way To Gift Money

I wanted to give my nephew money for his graduation but I really didn't want to give him money in a card, and I procrastinated enough that I didn't have time to do a whole lot of folding and fun stuff so here is what I came up with.

I took two balloons (one of each in his school colors) stuffed the money and some confetti in the outside balloon and blew them up.

I was a little concerned about trying to blow up both balloons at the same one but I have to say it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I ended up blowing them both up until the inside balloon was as big as I wanted it to be, I tied the end and let it float free inside the outer balloon and blew it up as much as I wanted!  Now write a nice note on the front and done!

How cute is that!

For doing it 20 minutes before we left I thought it turned out pretty stinkin' cute.  (I thought he might need some water balloons to get back at us in the future)

Now get some silly string and let the kids go to town when you see him!!!
