Blanching Peaches

Peaches...They're Everywhere (Well, not in Montana)

I had to import these ones, but now I have to do something with them!

So, over the next few days I will be posting about Peaches.  There are so many things you can do with peaches but many of them involve blanching.  THis is a super easy process to peal the skin off.  It takes no more than a few minutes.  The longest part is waiting for the water to boil!

The Lost Art of Blanching...

All you need to do is boil a pot of water, make sure it is boiling!

Drop your peaches in and make sure they are covered by the water all the way.

let them sit for 45 to 60 seconds,

scoop out of the water and place in an ice water bath.  (You don't want them to keep cooking)

And peel!

See, how easy is that?  No stay tuned, we will be making peach sauce (like apple sauce but with peaches), peach jam (the only jam my daughter will eat), and dehydrated.

All of which require blanching.

By the way, this works great with tomatoes also!  How great is that, we will be exploring tomato sauce in a couple weeks. {Yeah!}

Have a super fun day!
