DIY Carpet Cleaner

DIY Carpet Shampoo

Here is one that may be less used in our home but no less vital. I shampoo my carpets every couple months or so but I really love this carpet cleaner.  It keeps them smelling clean and fresh as well as really scrubs the fibers!

So here it is, my recipe for

Carpet Shampoo

1/2 gallon water
1/2 cup Castile soap
1/4 cup lemon juice
scent of your choice

Mix together and wait till its time to clean your carpets.

YEAH!!!! Your going to love it...

  1. So, what scent do you usually use? I like the smell of citrus. I think it enhances the clean feeling with its refreshing smell. I’ll try your recipe for my next carpet cleaning, by the way. And that’s next month! Thanks! :D

  2. I agree, I really like the citrus smell for cleaning. There is just something about it that screams clean to me too! Especially with the lemon juice in there already. But be sure to check the smell with your castile soap first. I made the mistake of getting scented the first time and just throwing in some essential oil and I was not real happy with the results. I will usually buy the unscented or almond scented soap now.

    Thanks for reading!

  3. I'm wondering how to use this?? Do you just scrub it into the carpet on your hands and knees?... From there, do you just leave it in the rug then, and let it dry overnight??... Sounds like quite a project, but I'd be willing to try it. ~tina

  4. OMG!!! I thought that if I want to clean my house with green products I should spend a lot of money in the supermarket but now I know that I can make my own natural cleaners. Thank you!
