DIY placemats from the dollar store

Dollar store placemats

I don't know if you have ever visited Madigan Made but it is one of my favorite blogs.  She makes some of the most fun, fabulous projects seriously on the planet!

Recently she had this great idea to turn dollar store chopping mats into placemats and I thought it was brilliant!  I just had to make some!

Now, all you are going to need is the chopping mats and either vinyl (which is what she used), or I chose some contact paper (also from the dollar store).

I was going for a more seasonal look rather than an everyday placemat, but that is the beauty of these things, they are so cheep to make that you can make a million of them without spending a fortune. (Well, maybe not a million, per say.  That would be spendy, but truly one for every season would be pretty cheap.)

So I used some of these paper doilies as my stencils.  I traced them onto the back of the contact paper, cut them out, and...

Tada!! Stuck them onto the chopping mats in whatever pattern you would like.

LOVE IT!!!!

What do you think?  I am going to have to go back closer to Christmas and see if they have any holiday contact paper.  I'll bet they will have something in silver or gold I can use for Christmas.  I am soooooo excited to make some more.

Thanks for stopping by everyone, come back and visit us again soon,
